Just a quick 5-minute drive from the retreat, Newbury Harbor is a charming lakeside spot with a small beach, boat launch, and beautiful views of Lake Sunapee. It’s the perfect place for a relaxed picnic, swimming on a warm day, or launching a kayak. With its peaceful setting and easy access, it’s a local favorite for enjoying the lake without the crowds. 

Twin Lake Village Golf Course (New London, ~11 miles / 18 min drive) A charming 9-hole par-3 course that’s perfect for beginners, families, or anyone looking for a relaxed round in a beautiful country setting. Affordable rates, friendly staff, and a fun, laid-back vibe make this a great casual golf outing.

Country Club of New Hampshire (North Sutton, ~14 miles / 20 min drive) This public 18-hole championship course stretches across scenic countryside with mountain views. Known for its challenging layout, long fairways, and well-designed greens, it’s a great choice for golfers looking for a traditional New England course experience. 

Newport Golf Club (Newport, ~16 miles / 25 min drive) A scenic 18-hole public course featuring tree-lined fairways, ponds, and rolling hills. With a par-71 layout, it offers a nice balance of challenge and playability. Well-kept greens and reasonable rates make it a favorite for both locals and visitors.  

Eastman Golf Links (Grantham, ~22 miles / 30 min drive) A scenic semi-public 18-hole championship course open to the public. Eastman Golf Links offers rolling fairways, water hazards, and beautiful views, making it both fun and challenging for all levels of golfers. The course also has a driving range, practice areas, pro shop, and a grill for casual dining. 

The Blue Canoe (7 min drive) is a new restaurant located at 71 Main Street in Sunapee, NH, in the Sunapee harbor area, offering lunch and dinner with lakeside views. Known for its "great atmosphere" and "delicious food," it is a popular addition to the area, providing a dining experience with both indoor and outdoor seating. The restaurant is open seven days a week and features a menu that includes items like corn bread, clam chowder, and blue crab rangoon 

Bubba’s Bar & Grille (Newbury Harbor, 3 min drive): Family staple with pizza, burgers, pasta, and a big menu that has something for everyone

Fenton’s Landing – Good Food, Deli & Provisions (Sunapee Harbor, ~7-minute drive) Located in Sunapee Harbor, Fenton’s Landing is a vibrant, community-favorite spot perfect for casual dining and grab-and-go fare. Whether you’re fueling up for a day on the lake or want something fresh and easy, they offer breakfast (served until 11am), deli sandwiches, wraps, and a variety of goodies. On select evenings, their taco trailer adds flair with tacos and sides. Be sure to check out the beer garden in back! 

Sanctuary Dairy Farm Ice Cream (Sunapee, 12 min drive): A must-visit spot for homemade ice cream with farm animals for kids to see
